Lisa Rinna discussing The Power of Positive Thinking

Lisa Rinna’s journey to stardom began far from Hollywood. A specific mindset fueled her rise, which she later solidified through Norman Vincent Peale’s classic, The Power of Positive Thinking. Before her global fame, Rinna faced a “rude awakening” in Medford, Oregon. After moving from California at age seven, she became an outsider. School bullies teased her ruthlessly. This struggle forced her to find a “niche” and build the resilience that eventually led her to Peale’s life-changing principles.

Her true turning point arrived in her 20s. Rinna describes this as a “bleak time.” She lived in a roach-infested apartment in Daly City, trapped in a relationship filled with “negative energy.” She felt stuck in the wrong life. During this uncertainty, she discovered The Power of Positive Thinking. “I needed help to find my way out,” she shares. The book provided a mental framework to stop the victim mentality and start “moving forward.”

In this episode of Books That Changed My Life, Rinna reflects on how books became tools for survival during some of her most uncertain years.

The full conversation explores Lisa’s early career struggles in greater depth and is available through the Syndicate X Library.

High-stakes pivots defined Rinna’s path. A devastating failure at the University of Oregon nearly ended her acting dreams. However, she used positive thinking to navigate the brutal entertainment industry. She taught aerobics to survive and handled intense pressure on Hollywood sets. Her career proves that success relies on a refusal to stay down rather than just talent.
