The market is saturated with water bottle brands, but which is truly the best? Should you have one of each? Here is a list that will help you decide which water bottle, or bottles, you need to add to your collection.

By Jayne Turner – Staff Writer

Commonalities:

Insulted: These brands all carry insulated water bottles. Insulation helps keep cold drinks cold and hot drinks hot. Often effective for up to 24 hours, even when left in a hot car!

Durable: These water bottles are all made of BPA-free stainless steel, which is lightweight. Though each brand differs in weight, they are generally easy to carry around for everyday use.

Better for the environment: All of these brands offer a great alternative to single-use plastic water bottles, so no matter which one you choose, you’re doing the environment a favor. As a bonus, Hydroflask offers trade-ins where you send in your old bottle and earn a $5 credit towards your next purchase.

Hydroflask

Variety of Sizes: 12, 18, 21, 24, 32, 40, and 64 ounces! Each bottle size is ideal for different occasions. I personally carry the 40oz because I drink a lot of water, but the 32oz is typical for everyday use. They also offer free drink lids, straw lids, and sip lids. I personally like the straw lid that lies flat in the lid when not in use.

Customizable: Each size also comes in a wide variety of colors. They carry classic colors, like black and white, as well as bold shades, pastel shades, and seasonal offerings. They also offer engravings!

Owala

Built-in straw: Their built-in straw technology makes it easy to access with one hand. Better yet, they have fun color combinations between the lid and the bottle, so your water bottle looks uniquely you.

Leak-proof lid: Leak-proof is hard to achieve, but Owala’s unique design is seriously good. Their patented FreeSip and SmoothSip Slider lids are both great choices. The way it works is by creating a secure seal when closed, unlike competing brands.

Stanley Cup

Variety in a single lid: The Stanley lid is a patented FlowState screw-on-3-position lid. The three modes are: a straw opening, a wide mouth for drinking, and a full cover top to prevent spills. You can have variety without switching out the lid entirely, which is great for when you’re on the go.

Cup holder compatible: These cups have a wide body and a thinner bottom, ideal for fitting in car cup holders. This is good if you like to use it in straw mode, since it isn’t leak-proof. But beware, this won’t fit in every car cup holder.

With these in mind, you can go forth and choose a water bottle! Maybe you prefer an Owala on the go and a Stanley at home, for easy sipping. I’m personally loyal to my Hydroflask! Whichever water bottle you choose, you’re making the sustainable decision to cut out single-use plastics. The environment thanks you!
